How to Add Your Website Copy to Google Docs
Welcome! To make adding your website content as simple as possible, I have set up a Google Docs folder with ready-made templates for each page of your website.
This guide will walk you through how to access, edit, and complete your content.
1. ACCESSING YOUR GOOGLE DOCS FOLDER
I have shared a Google Docs folder with you via email. Click the link in the email to open it.
Inside the folder, you’ll find individual documents for each page of your website, such as:
Home Page
About Page
Services Page
Contact Page
Each document contains prompts and structure to help guide you as you write.
2. EDITING YOUR CONTENT
Open the document for the page you want to work on.
Click anywhere inside the document and start typing.
If you’re unsure what to write, check the prompts inside each section.
If you need to ask a question or leave a note, use the commenting feature:
Highlight the text you want to comment on.
Click the comment button (speech bubble icon) on the right side.
Type your question and press enter.
💡 Tip: Google Docs automatically saves your changes, so there’s no need to click “Save.”
3. Formatting and Structure
Keep headings and sections as they are, just replace the placeholder text with your own words.
Bullet points, lists, and short paragraphs make the text easier to read online.
Feel free to use bold or italics if needed, but I will take care of final formatting when building the site.
4. Sharing the Google Doc with a Team Member
If you need to give access to a member of your staff so they can also edit the document, follow these steps:
Open the Google Doc you want to share.
Click the Share button in the top right corner.
In the pop-up window, enter the email address of your team member.
Choose their permission level:
Editor (can make changes to the document)
Viewer (can only view the document)
Commenter (can leave comments but not edit)
Click Send to share the document with them.
💡 Tip: If your team member doesn’t receive the invite, ask them to check their spam folder or try sharing the link directly.
Once you’ve added your content, let me know by email or by adding a comment saying “Ready for review.”
I will check through your text, make any suggestions, and prepare it for the website.
If anything is missing or unclear, I’ll follow up with you.
5. Troubleshooting & Support
Can’t access the folder?
Make sure you’re logged into the correct Google account (the one I shared the folder with).
Try opening the link in a different browser (Chrome works best for Google Docs).
If you still have issues, email me, and I’ll resend the link.
Accidentally deleted something?
Don’t worry! Google Docs saves all versions. Go to File > Version History > See Version History to restore previous versions.
Still need help?
Just send me an email, and I’ll be happy to assist.
4. What Happens Next?
Once you’ve added your content, let me know by email or by adding a comment saying “Ready for review.”
I will check through your text, make any suggestions, and prepare it for the website.
If anything is missing or unclear, I’ll follow up with you.
